What is Pawicamp?

PawiCamp is an environmental education and awareness program spearheaded by JCI Davao in partnership with the Aboitiz Foundation and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region 11 (DENR XI). Launched in 2019, the initiative is dedicated to the protection and rehabilitation of natural coastal reserves that are critical habitats for endangered marine species—particularly the pawikan (Philippine Sea Turtle).

This one-day transformative camp is designed for young active citizens who aspire to become eco-warriors—individuals equipped with the knowledge, passion, and commitment to advocate for environmental protection. The program combines informative sessions with hands-on coastal activities such as beach clean-ups, mangrove planting, and pawikan releases to instill both awareness and action.

Since its launch, PawiCamp has mobilized hundreds of volunteers, youth participants, and local stakeholders in a shared mission of marine conservation. It continues to build a growing network of environmental stewards in Davao and beyond.
