JCI Leadership Training Builds the Next Generation of Leaders
MATI CITY, Davao Oriental — JCI leadership training took center stage as JCI Davao successfully conducted Spark To Impact: 2-Day Leadership Training on May 9–10, 2026, at Kaia Beach Villas in Mati City, Davao Oriental. The intensive leadership bootcamp gathered more than 30 presidents, board members, new members, and prospective recruits from various JCI Local Organizations across the Davao Region for two days of learning, collaboration, and leadership development. As part of JCI Davao’s continuing commitment to developing active citizens through impactful initiatives, the organization continues to implement leadership and community development programs featured on its Projects page.
Designed to deepen participants’ understanding of Junior Chamber International while strengthening their leadership capabilities, Spark To Impact provided an immersive learning environment where attendees gained practical knowledge that they can immediately apply within their respective local organizations and communities.
More than simply an orientation, the program served as a comprehensive JCI leadership training experience that prepared emerging leaders to become more effective officers, project managers, trainers, and community builders.

JCI Leadership Training Through Practical and Relevant Learning
The first day of the bootcamp focused on establishing a strong foundation in JCI principles, organizational identity, and leadership fundamentals.
The opening session, “Discover JCI: An Opportunity to Impact,” facilitated by Ralph dela Cerna of JCI Davao, introduced participants to the mission, vision, opportunities, and global impact of Junior Chamber International (JCI). The session encouraged both new and existing members to recognize the organization as a platform for creating sustainable positive change.
Participants also attended JCI Branding: Building a Strong and Consistent Identity, presented by Gian Brix Bungco, which emphasized the importance of maintaining a unified brand that reflects the organization’s values and professionalism.
Communication skills were further enhanced through Effective Communications, led by Allyn Jaspher Basit, while Strategic Planning, facilitated by Khen Lexter Torres, equipped participants with practical tools for creating measurable goals and sustainable chapter initiatives.
The afternoon continued with Parliamentary Procedure, conducted by John Paul Cordova, helping attendees understand proper meeting management and governance practices.
Ralph dela Cerna also facilitated Onto With a Purpose, a specialized session covering proper conduct, event etiquette, and shadowing protocols during official JCI functions. The training emphasized professionalism, discipline, and servant leadership—qualities that strengthen every JCI Local Organization and prepare members for meaningful service opportunities.
The day’s learning concluded with JCI History, presented by Cyra Quilaneta of JCI Chinatown Davao, allowing participants to appreciate the organization’s rich heritage and global legacy of leadership and active citizenship.
JCI Leadership Training Strengthens Organizational Excellence
The second day shifted its focus toward chapter sustainability, organizational development, and community impact.
Participants learned the fundamentals of developing effective governance documents through Creating Your Chapter’s Constitution and By-Laws, once again facilitated by Allyn Jaspher Basit. The session highlighted how well-crafted governing documents contribute to transparency, accountability, and organizational continuity.
Community-centered leadership remained a core focus during Community Needs Analysis, where Khen Lexter Torres guided participants in identifying genuine community issues before designing impactful projects that create sustainable solutions.
Cyra Quilaneta then shared valuable strategies during Sponsorship and Partnership, providing practical approaches to building lasting relationships with stakeholders, sponsors, government agencies, and private organizations.
Ralph dela Cerna returned to facilitate Leadership Styles, encouraging participants to recognize their individual leadership strengths while adapting their approaches to different teams, personalities, and situations.

The bootcamp concluded with engaging team-building activities led by Aljon Pasuhil, reinforcing collaboration, trust, communication, and teamwork among participants from different JCI Local Organizations.
Through this well-rounded JCI leadership training, attendees gained practical competencies that extend beyond organizational leadership into their personal and professional lives. Throughout the two-day program, participants gained practical knowledge that can immediately be applied within their respective chapters. Many of these leadership initiatives complement the community development programs regularly implemented by JCI Davao, which are highlighted in The Quill, the organization’s official online publication featuring stories of impact, leadership, and service.
