Grab Crab was launched in May 2021 as a strategic livelihood initiative to support the Tambongon Fisherfolk’s Association in Barangay Lasang, Davao City. Aiming to establish a sustainable, marine ecosystem-based source of income, the project initially focused on crab production—an industry where the community had potential but lacked training and resources.
With the support of JCI Davao, the association gained access to technical workshops, startup resources, and strategic partnerships. These interventions enabled the fisherfolk to expand their operations beyond crab farming to include seashell harvesting, fish cultivation, and other marine-based products.
Today, Grab Crab has empowered the community to build a stable, diversified, and environmentally responsible livelihood. The project has not only boosted the economic resilience of its beneficiaries but also encouraged sustainable marine resource management in the area.
