What is project W.A.S.H.?

Project WASH (Water Access for Sanitation and Hygiene) is JCI Davao’s community-driven initiative to bring safe and reliable water to areas without access to municipal water supply. Many communities in Davao City still rely on untreated river water—exposing residents to serious health risks and perpetuating inequality.

JCI Davao identifies these water-scarce communities and implements sustainable water systems—often solar-powered—to ensure clean, hygienic, and uninterrupted water access. These infrastructure solutions are paired with community training in proper sanitation and hygiene practices, promoting both resilience and wellness.

Objectives of the Project

Deploy Sustainable Water Systems
Install solar-powered or clean-water infrastructure in under-served barangays with no access to Davao City Water District services.
Promote Hygiene Awareness

Educate local residents—especially families and schools—on best practices in sanitation and hygiene to maximize public health benefits.

Build Community Ownership

Empower communities through hands-on training and maintenance support so water and hygiene systems remain functional and effective long-term.
