JCI Davao held its 11th General Membership Meeting last November 27, 2023, at Upstairs Rooftop Bar + Kitchen, gathering the regular members, baby Jaycees, and some of the chapter’s past presidents to witness and discuss the organization’s future direction and elect new leaders who will steer the chapter towards greater heights.
In this membership meeting, the current Board of Directors discussed the different highlights the chapter has achieved during the past year including the different awards the organization received during the Agung Awards earlier this year and the Sinagtala award received during the Temyong Night in the recently concluded National Convention in Tacloban City. Through the office of the Treasurer, the secretary general happily reported a 100% efficiency rating for the JCIPEA (JCI Philippines Efficiency Award) Program, proof of the chapter’s relentless efforts to achieve positive change.
However, the most significant highlight of the chapter this year was the proclamation of the 76th National President of JCI Philippines, Atty. Mark Peter Quilaneta, who, despite all the challenges of the election, has landed on top and won the presidency by a small margin against his competitor. Indeed, it was a year for the chapter – one for the books!
The meeting then proceeded to the election of the new officers who will lead JCI Davao for the upcoming year. With JCI Senator and 2011 JCI Davao President Steve Arquiza presiding as the Election Commissioner, each of the aspiring directors presented their vision and plans for the upcoming year. The members of JCI Davao carefully considered each candidate’s platform and cast their votes via Viva Voce, entrusting the future of the organization to those with the most compelling vision and leadership potential.
The election concluded with the proclamation of the 9 members of the Board of Directors. Leading the pack is Arch. Carlo Franco Santos, son of the 1991 JCID President Francisco Santos, Jr., as the 2024 JCI Davao President. With him to steer the organization are the rest of the board members namely Marc Leo Esponilla (Secretary General), Engr. John Chin (Treasurer), Engr. Ryan Ho (Vice President for Individual Development), Anton Kintanar (Vice President for Internationalism), Jules Manlitoc (Vice President for Business Development), Engr. Joseph Eric Tiu (Vice President for Community Development), and Anton Ansaldo (Director-at-large). Completing his Board of Directors is Engr. Anthony John Castro as the president-elect (2025 JCID President), and the Immediate Past-President of the Chapter, Engr. Arthur Dizon, Jr. The future shines bright as the new set of officers present themselves in front of the general membership and the esteemed past presidents.
With this, 2024 JCID President Carlo Franco Santos also unveiled the direction of the chapter for 2024 with the theme “Boss Level”.
The 11th General Membership Meeting and Elections was a resounding success, bringing together the chapters’ old and new members to celebrate the organization’s achievements, elect new leadership and engage in meaningful discussions about the future. This was a significant milestone for the organization, marking a new chapter in its journey to empower young leaders and make a lasting impact on the community.
