Davao City, April 23, 2025 – In a heartfelt effort to inspire curiosity and promote inclusive education, JCI Davao, in partnership with Brokenshire College, successfully held ScienSaya, a community-based science initiative tailored for the Badjao youth of Barangay 76-A, Bucana.
Set within the vibrant Badjao community at DAVSA, the event brought together students, educators, and young leaders to make science accessible, interactive, and inspiring. The activity featured hands-on experiments, fun science lessons, and community engagement, proving that science can spark wonder—even in the most underserved areas.
Igniting Curiosity through Youth Leadership
With the support of Chairman Jestoni Ruado Diaz, Vice Chairman Chaim Perion Alonsabe, and JCI Davao members, ScienSaya became more than just an outreach—it was a platform for youth leadership in Mindanao, where aspiring changemakers facilitated educational experiences for indigenous children.
Volunteers from Brokenshire College actively participated, guiding children through exciting activities that covered basic scientific principles. The aim: to show that learning can be joyful, relevant, and deeply empowering.
Building Bridges Through Community Support
Beyond scientific learning, ScienSaya embraced a holistic approach to community upliftment. Volunteers shared snacks, school supplies, and essential goods, nurturing a spirit of solidarity and generosity within the event.
“This isn’t just about science—it’s about showing every child that they matter, that learning is for them, and that they are capable of making an impact,” shared a JCI Davao volunteer.
