Panacan, Davao City — June 13–14, 2025
In a powerful display of resilience and community-driven innovation, JCI Davao, together with the Most Outstanding High School Graduate (MOHSG) program, launched Project VegStable—a youth-led initiative promoting urban agriculture, food security, and environmental awareness in the heart of Mindanao.
Despite the rainy weather, the spirit of service and sustainable action flourished at the Barangay Panacan Covered Court on June 13, where participants gathered for a full-day seminar. The program featured engaging discussions on vegetable production, composting, and innovative urban gardening techniques like rooftop gardens, vertical farms, and community plots. The event drew active participation from barangay leaders, youth representatives, and key community stakeholders, who were also recognized for their continued support.
“This project is proof that even in uncertain times, youth leadership can plant the seeds of real, lasting change,” said Jerry Acido, Jr., MOHSG Project Chair and JCI Davao member.
The learning will continue to bear fruit with a hands-on planting activity scheduled for June 14 at the Gulayan ng Barangay Panacan, where volunteers and local youth will turn ideas into action by growing vegetables and establishing a model for sustainable urban agriculture.
