Talikud Island, Davao del Norte – April 27, 2025 – In a powerful demonstration of youth leadership and compassion-driven service, JCI Davao spearheaded Tanglaw Natin ang Talikud, a major healthcare outreach program under its “Got Heart” campaign. Held at Sta. Cruz National High School in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS), the initiative brought essential medical services and life-changing support to over 300 island residents.

At the heart of the mission was a coalition of partners who shared one goal: to deliver equitable, accessible healthcare to underserved communities in Mindanao. JCI Davao collaborated with key organizations including:

  • Association of Nursing Service Administrators of the Philippines (ANSAP) – Davao Chapter
  • Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) – Davao Chapter
  • Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) – Davao Chapter
  • Family Planning Organization of the Philippines (FPOP) – Davao Chapter
  • Davao Medical School Foundation Inc. (DMSFI) & DMSFI – Diabetes Clinic
  • Institute of Primary Health Care (IPHC), CRIADOS, Brigada News FM Davao, and Manolette Bakeshop

This collective brought together medical professionals, youth volunteers, and civic leaders—embodying the JCI vision of active citizenship and multi-sectoral collaboration.

Health Access with Lasting Impact

The program offered a wide range of services tailored to the community’s most pressing health needs:

  • Medical Consultations & Minor Surgeries (including circumcision)
  • Diagnostic Testing: FBS/RBS, UACR, and prenatal ultrasound
  • Preventive Care: HIV screening and education, diabetes awareness, nutrition and hygiene IECs
  • Family Planning & Women’s Health: Free contraceptives, reproductive health counseling
  • Pharmaceutical Support: Provision of medications, vitamins, and dental hygiene kits

“This wasn’t just a medical mission—it was a mission of hope, dignity, and empowerment,” shared one community health partner.

Through education and direct care, Tanglaw Natin ang Talikud did more than treat illness—it helped the community build resilience. By merging clinical expertise with youth-led service, the project exemplified how JCI Davao is creating sustainable change across Mindanao.

A Model of Youth Leadership in Action

This initiative reflects JCI Davao’s continued leadership in addressing real-world challenges through inclusive, strategic action. Grounded in its core values, the chapter continues to lead youth-driven solutions that empower underserved communities and promote lasting well-being.

As JCI Davao moves forward with its “Got Heart” campaign and other flagship programs, it remains a beacon of what youth leadership in Mindanao can achieve when passion meets purpose.
