This Kadayawan season, locals and tourists are in for a flavorful adventure with Kaon Ta Bai! Eat Lokal, a mouth-watering collaboration between JCI Davao and the Davao Tourism Association (DATA).

Launched as part of the city’s official Kadayawan celebration, this project aims to promote Davao local food by encouraging everyone to explore and dine at homegrown restaurants. Since its inception, 45 local cafés and restaurants have joined, backed by the Davao City Tourism Operations Office, making it a city-wide celebration of flavors.

How It Works – Eat, Save, and Win

For just ₱350, food lovers can purchase the official Kaon Ta Bai! Eat Lokal discount card from partner establishments, DATA, or JCI Davao.

Here’s the recipe for fun:

  1. Dine at partner restaurants – Enjoy 10% off your total bill (up to ₱3,000) and get your card stamped.
  2. Complete 15 stamps – Redeem your card at the DATA office for a ₱250 Grab Food voucher.
  3. Get more perks – Cardholders with at least 15 stamps enjoy:
    • ₱100 off at Islands Souvenirs (minimum ₱1,000 purchase at Poblacion Market)
    • A chance to win ₱300 Lazada vouchers
    • A chance to win round-trip flights from Cebu Pacific Air

Promo runs from August 1–31, 2025, with prize redemption until September 13, 2025 and the raffle draw on September 6, 2025.

A First-of-Its-Kind Collaboration

The idea began with a meeting between Nicole Hao-Bian, President of DATA, and JCI Davao through the efforts of member Jose Antonio Kintanar. While food crawls have been organized before, this is the first-ever collaboration between JCI Davao and DATA for such an event.

Both organizations share the vision of boosting the local dining scene in Davao City and spotlighting its diverse flavors during the city’s grandest festival.

Where to Eat

The Kaon Ta Bai! Eat Lokal card unlocks a culinary passport to 45 partner restaurants and cafés across Davao City, including:

  • Tsuru – Japanese comfort food favorite
  • Marina Tuna – Famous for its fresh tuna dishes
  • Bramble – Trendy café and restaurant with creative menus
  • Mamamita – Local cuisine with a twist
  • Beholden, Garden by the Bay, Artisana, and more

From heritage recipes to modern fusion dishes, this food crawl is a celebration of Davao local food in all its variety.

Ralph dela Cerna, JCI Davao’s 2025 Vice President for Internationalism and Project Chairman, shares:

“The success of the project is not ours alone, but because of the many Davaoeños who love to eat and drink and have a good time. I love to eat. This project is really something close to my heart… and belly! I love to explore and exploring food is not an exception. I hope Davaoeños could also see this as an opportunity to widen their taste buds and promote Davao not just as a peaceful city that we love, but as a haven for delicacies and cuisines that need to be discovered and shared to everyone.”
